Tuna and Avocado Tartare with Ginger and Sesame
Fresh ginger, citrus and sesame are a lovely marinade for this tuna tartare, served as an appetizer or main.
- 1/2 lb sushi grade tuna
- 1 1/2 tsp sesame oil
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 1 small orange, grated
- salt and pepper
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1/2 lemon, juiced
- 1 avocado, thinly sliced
- sesame seeds
- Hand wash ahi tuna in cold water and dry with a paper towel. Cut into 1/4 inch cubes and put in a bowl. Add salt, pepper, and sesame oil.
- Grate ginger, zest orange, and thinly slice green onions (save some to garnish). Add ingredients to the bowl and combine. Refrigerate for 15-30 min.
- Thinly slice avocado. Spoon ahi tuna on top, add more green onions and garnish with sesame seeds. Squeeze lemon juice on top and serve!
