Rum Caramel Topping (for Ginger Cake)

This decadence can be served over ginger cake or any type of cake, ice cream etc.

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup rum
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/2 tsp cornstarch


  • Melt all ingredients gradually in saucepan. Simmer while stirring constantly until it reaches a slow boil. Will thicken more after removing from heat.
